Coroner identifies 2nd motorcyclist involved in 4-vehicle collision during Bikefest

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A second person has died from injuries sustained in a collision involving three motorcycles and an SUV on Friday, May 22, during the Memorial Day Bikefest.

According to Horry County Deputy Coroner, Michelle McSpadden, the victim was identified as Charlie Evans, 47, of Henderson, NC. The motorcyclist died at Grand Strand Medical Center on Sunday, May 31, over a week after the accident occurred at about 8:53 p.m. on Highway 17 at Kings Road, near the Myrtle Beach Mall, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah Wimberly.

The other victim in the collision, Thomas Martin, Jr., 52, Henderson, NC, died of injuries sustained in the vehicle collision, said Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner.

The collision involved three motorcycles and a Chevrolet SUV, Wimberly said.
