DILLON, SC (WMBF) – One man was shot while pumping gas at a gas station in Dillon and taken to the hospital Saturday night, according to a Dillon Police Department.

The shooting occurred at about 7:20 p.m. at the Little Bills Convenience Store at 201 Highway 301 South, according to a police report. By the time police arrived at the scene, the victim had already been taken to the hospital by a family member.

Police talked to the 34-year-old male victim at the hospital, who said that he was pumping gas and talking to a woman when he heard a gunshot and “felt a sting in his lower back,” the report states.

The victim saw a black Cavalier speeding away towards Latta on Highway 301. Surveillance video from the gas station showed a black Cavalier drive into the parking lot, and then showed the victim running from the scene. He told police that he feared for his life, and ran from the store to get a ride to the hospital.

Police say no arrests have been made, and no one is in custody at this time.
