Farewell Paula, we'll miss you!

(WMBF) – Since WMBF News launched in 2008, Paula Caruso has brought an incredible dedication, professionalism, and passion to the station, and she has been a huge part of making WMBF News what it is today.

Sadly, Friday is Paula's last day at WMBF News. We took the time to talk to Paula about her time here, and to look back at her amazing career at WMBF News from the very beginning.

"I remember thinking...this is 2008, who builds a TV station from the ground up?” Paula recalls. “I went and took a chance, and it ended up being a great experience. The first obviously all-digital station to launch in the country at that point. We had a lot of fun - it was a lot of hard work, but we had a lot of fun doing it."

Paula began by waking up with the Grand Strand and Pee Dee every morning on WMBF News Today, and three years later, she was promoted to anchor the WMBF News evening newscasts alongside Michael Maely.

“Of course coming down here I never would have thought I would have ended up married with a child,” Paula says. “I can't see my life any other way now. There's a shift in your priorities and what you want for your life and of course what you want for their life."

In July of 2014, Paula and her husband welcomed Victoria Lynn, a beautiful baby girl, into the world. The story and photos of her daughter's birth were among the most-viewed stories on WMBFNews.com in 2014.

"I'm gonna miss the daily deadlines, and the pressure and the adrenaline rushes that we get from breaking news and big stories, and of course the adrenaline rush just from live TV, which of course is a wonderful thing every day and making sure everything is perfect for air,” Paula says. “I don't know if it's the years, or the wear and tear of the job, or the marriage and the baby, but I feel like I've aged immensely. But it's fun to look back and see that young girl looking back at me. What a journey it's been."

We couldn't agree more Paula. Thank you for taking this journey with us!

Send your best wishes to Paula on her Facebook page, on the WMBF News Facebook page, or by tweeting @PaulaCaruso or @WMBFNews.
