Florence School District One announces 2015 summer feeding program

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Florence School District One will be offering its 2015 free summer feeding program to children 18 years of age or younger from June 8 to July 31 at various locations in Florence County.

Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday; breakfast hours will be from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and lunch hours will be 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., according to a news release from Florence School District One.

Florence School District One says meals will be offered to students and children only and need to be eaten at the meal site. The meal sites will include the following locations:

·         Alfred Rush Academy

·         R.N. Beck Center

·         Briggs Elementary

·         Carver Elementary

·         Churchill Housing Center

·         Delmae Elementary

·         Dewey Carter Elementary

·         Lester Elementary

·         Lucy T. Davis Elementary

·         McLaurin Elementary

·         North Vista Elementary

·         Savannah Grove Elementary

·         Wallace Gregg Elementary

·         Southside Middle

·         West Florence High

·         Wilson High

·        
New Ebenezer Baptist Church

Check with individual sites for dates of operation as circumstances may change which could result is some sites not remaining open during the entire period. Registration is not required and program services and benefits are available to all children without regard to race, religion, color, sex, disability, age or national origin. The program is operated in accordance with Federal Law and USDA policy.

    One person has died after an accident on U.S. 17 South early Saturday morning. According to Jed Jones with South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pick-up truck was traveling on U.S. 17, when it ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned around 1:55 Saturday morning. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

     A house fire has temporarily shut down Myrtle Avenue in Pawley’s Island. Pawley’s Island Police confirm a house fire at 350 Myrtle Avenue, and say the road will be closed for a while. There is a house fire at 350 Myrtle Ave. Street will be closed for a while between the causeways.

    Conway Pastor Phillip Miles was arrested Thursday by TSA for carrying an unloaded pistol into Myrtle Beach International Airport. According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center’s website, Miles was charged with carrying weapons into restricted places and was released on $500.00 bond.
