DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – The Darlington Raceway is in the running for USA Today's “10 Best” NASCAR Tracks!

This year's Bojangles' Southern 500 will air right here on WMBF News on Labor Day Weekend.

Ahead of that race, the track needs your help to being voted the best track in the US.

“USA Today is a fantastic partner of the sport. They do a great job covering it on a weekly basis, but to be able to be recognized as even a top 20 venue on their list is fantastic,” Chip Wile, President of the Darlington Raceway said.

The folks at the Darlington Raceway want to be number one on that list.

For the first time, USA Today put the raceway on its list of the top 20 racing venues in the US.

Darlington offers unique racing experience –which includes the egg shaped track.

The list also looks at fan experience which is something Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile said is a main focus of this year's September race.

“As part of our celebration of the history and heritage of the sport with us returning to Labor Day weekend. We have added three signature food items that will all be under a five dollar price point,” Wile said.

Come this September you'll be able to snack on fried green tomatoes, a pimento cheese sandwich and a sausage pirlo.

While the track here is working to give an old school feel this upcoming race, some of the drivers are getting in on the action also.

“This is Tony Stewart's car we just got it, it's in the NASCAR hall of fame here. But this will not be what you see him racing in when the Southern 500 returns to Labor Day Weekend here at the Darlington Raceway,” said Wile.

Tony Stewart is among several drivers who are retrofitting their cars to fit this year's theme for the Bojangles' Southern 500.

So the question is: will the track that's too tough to tame take the prize for USA today's top racing venue?

“We need to go online and vote for the raceway as your favorite NASCAR venue on the circuit,” Wile said.

“The Track Too Tough to Tame” is currently sitting at number 4 out of 20 on the reader's choice list, as of Wednesday morning. Voting is open until Monday, June 22 at noon Eastern Time, and readers can vote once per day.

Click here to vote for the Darlington Raceway now!

The tracks to beat are the Watkins Glen International in New York, the Michigan International Speedway in Michigan, and the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

The Darlington Raceway is home to the Bojangles' Southern 500, scheduled to take place on September 6 this year. Stick with WMBF News for complete coverage of this year's race!
