Gunfire brings officers to Compass Cove Resort for second time in less than 12 hours

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Gunfire brought police officers to Compass Cove Resort for the second time in less than 12 hours.

According to officials with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, a suspect presented a gun, and demanded the victim's money. Police say the victim fled to his room, and the suspect fired one shot before fleeing the scene.

Detective Amick with Myrtle Beach Police tells WMBF News at around 7 a.m. Sunday morning, one shot was fired during an apparent attempted robbery on the second floor of the resort. Officers are still trying to get information about the suspect who is still at large according to the detective.

Our news crew reporting from Ocean Boulevard witnessed numerous officers running into the hotel.

One person was taken into custody overnight Saturday after a shooting was reported at the Compass Cove Resort.
