HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) -  The Horry County Emergency Operations Center will be monitoring traffic in the county Saturday.

The following release was issued by the Horry County Joint Information Center:

EOC and JIC operational 24 hours. No major issues reported. Forward command posts operational. JIC experiencing an increase in media requests over-night and today. Traffic Loop was in operation for 22:00 to 02:00 this morning. EOC continues to monitor traffic flow and traffic situational awareness. Found that during the traffic loop operations the EOC was limited in the ability to monitor most areas along the route due to lack of traffic cameras. Two M/C related fatalities have been reported and there have been several serious accidents since my last update. Hospitals are reporting adequate bed capacity at this time. Right now there are 40 incidents going on covering the entire county with the majority along the coast. Over-night volume increased to 65-70 incidents at any one time with traffic calls and medical calls being the majority of the incidents taking place.

For more information contact the EOC at 915-5150.
