MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The man that Myrtle Beach police say shot another man in the leg at Summer Sands Motel on Ocean Boulevard on May 20 has finally been arrested.

Police say Igor Lourenco faces charges for attempted murder, kidnapping, and attempted armed robbery in connection with the shooting. He was arrested after a several-months-long search, on Monday, November 2.

According to MBPD Sergeant Hull, officers were called out at 3:58 a.m. Wednesday after shots were fired in a motel room. Sergeant Hull said the man's injuries are non-life threatening and he would be released from the hospital soon.

"We have no evidence or information that would lead us to believe that this incident is connected with Bikefest," Lt. Joey Crosby stated.

In the hours following the shooting, many people in our area took to Facebook and social media to voice their concerns about what happened.  On the WMBF News Facebook page, dozens of users immediately started commenting on the post for this story.

In many of the comments, users talked about the shooting and claimed it was linked to Bikefest.  They also posted negative messages about the crowds coming to town Memorial Day weekend.

Police made it clear they do not believe this shooting is in any way connected to Bikefest and many business owners agree.

"It's an unfortunate shooting but it has nothing to do with what's going to happen this weekend and nothing to do with the bikers," said business owner Dick Todd.

Others who work on the boulevard like Nathaniel West share the same view about what happened.

"I mean it hasn't even started yet because if you look up and down the streets there's hardly anybody here," added West.  "I don't see why it should be an issue or how it's related in any way."
