FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Florence County Sheriff's Office has designated high visibility traffic enforcement areas for several locations over the next month.

The following locations were selected as "hot spots" based upon location-based crime and traffic crash data, according to a news release from FCSO:

· Brittany Drive, Willow Trace and Via Ponticello;

· West Black Creek Road, TV Road, including Cooper Lane, West Clark Road and Stag Horn Lane;

· Gilbert Drive, Freedom Boulevard, East National Cemetery Road;

· Howe Springs Road area, Tara Village and Southern Pines.

You can expect to see more sheriff's deputies in both marked and unmarked cars over the next several weeks in these areas.

The FCSO launched DDACTS, or Date Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety in June 2014. DDACTS is a U.S. Department of Justice-approved operational enforcement model which uses GIS mapping of crash and crime data to determine effective and efficient methods to deploy law enforcement resources.

The FCSO is the first South Carolina sheriff's office to adopt DDACTS.
