Report: Suspects allegedly hold up car passengers at gunpoint Sunday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Passengers of a vehicle told police they were held up by gunpoint Sunday morning, and the suspect took one of the victims' wallet.

According to a report from Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers responded to 16th Avenue North, and Withers Drive around 2:45 a.m. in regards to an armed robbery. When police arrived, the victim informed them that he was asleep in his vehicle when the suspect, and two to five other men approached him. According to the victim, the suspect said, “Give me your wallet, or I am gonna [sic] shoot you.”

The victim described the suspect as a black male wearing a black hoodie. The other men that accompanied the suspect were also described as black males, officials say.

Two other victims were in the backseat of the car, according to police. The other victims stated when the suspect demanded their belongings, they told him no, and jumped out toward the back of the vehicle. The suspect then pointed a black handgun, and fired one shot towards the victims, according to the report. The victims advised police that after firing shots, the suspect and unknown males ran west toward Kings Highway.

Officials say investigators found one shell casing on the scene.
