Victim identified in Florence shooting, murder investigation underway

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Florence police say the man shot on West Dixie Street died from his gunshot wounds at a local hospital Saturday night.

According to the Florence County Coroner, the victim has been identified as Terrell Quantrev Smith, he was 25 years old.

The shooting happened at 9 p.m. on West Dixie Street according to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department.

The man was walking down the street and was shot after an encounter with two men riding bikes, Maj. Raines said.

The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made at this time, Maj. Raines added.

The incident is under investigation by the Florence Police Department and Florence County Coroner's Office.
