GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Three people were arrested, and cocaine, crack, marijuana, and alcohol were seized from a Georgetown County residence after law enforcement conducted an undercover investigation into citizen complaints of illegal activity.

After receiving the complaints, undercover operations were conducted at a residence in the 100 block of Thomas Drive in the Santee area of Georgetown County, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. The activity included the operation of an unauthorized business in a residential area.

After the undercover operations, a search warrant was executed, and members of the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division encountered about 20 people inside and outside the “business,” the release states. Some were able to avoid contact with law enforcement, but two individuals operating the establishment were taken into custody, along with a third who tried to flee in a motor vehicle.

Jermaine Reid, 34, Daisy Mae Weatherspoon, 57, and Maurice Caprice Lincoln, 26, were arrested and transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Among the items seized were 13 bags of powder cocaine, weighing about 10 grams, six bags of crack cocaine, also weighing about 10 grams, 29 grams of high-grade marijuana, 14 large bottles of liquor, 76 mini-bottles, 80 beers, and $1,124 in cash, according to the release.

Officers also found several items of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, which had been discarded on the ground as agents arrived.

Reid and Weatherspoon face charges of unlawful alcohol sales. Lincoln faces the following charges: reckless driving, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, third offense, possession with intent to distribute crack, second offense, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, second offense.

This is an ongoing investigation, officials stated, with more arrests expected.
