(WMBF) - After being told his new pup wouldn't live too long, Dave Meinert, a filmmaker, said he decided to document every day they had left together.

Pegasus, the Great Dane pup, featured in the video, was rescued by a backyard breeder, Meinert explains in the video.

He said her most of her siblings died or were deformed, so he made this video as “a chronicle of [their] time together,” he posted to his YouTube channel.

The video has gotten more than 1 million views in less than a week.

In a YouTube post, Meinert said he never thought the video would get so much interest and has since found a new home for Pegasus.

In a recent post, Meinert said “Pegs” has a “new set up with incredible love, a bigger garden and a new best friend in Luna, another great dane was more than I could offer.”

But not before that little white pup taught him “lessons about love, humility and non-judgment.”
