Everett Golson to transfer from Notre Dame

(WMBF) - Myrtle Beach native Everett Golson will be on the move to make one final stop in his college career after announcing in a statement Thursday that he is leaving the University of Notre Dame and will go somewhere else for his final year of college eligibility.

Golson will complete his degree with graduation weekend coming in a week, so he could be eligible to play immediately at another university.

In his statement, Golson thanked the Irish for his time there. It concludes an interesting tenure with Notre Dame.

He took the school to a 12-0 season and a BCS Championship Game appearance as a freshman. He then was suspended from the university for academic reasons for the Fall 2013 semester.

After returning for the 2014 season, he threw for 29 touchdowns, but was eventually replaced by freshman Malik Zaire.

There is no word as to where Golson will transfer.
