MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - Owners of a pet grooming business said the fire that happened Tuesday was a blessing since more than 10 animals were booked to be in the building and only two were there.

Owners of Creekside Critters, in Murrells Inlet, said the fire destroyed the business.

No one was hurt; although, one or two pets may have some smoke inhalation issues, said Capt. Jerry Howerton with Murrells Inlet - Garden City Fire Rescue.

WMBF News spoke with one of the three owners, Susan Shirley.

Shirley said the fire started on the porch and the flames just went up too fast to get it under control.

Shirley said they had no water hose to try and fight the fire themselves.

Shirley said she two animals were taken out to safety but not before one of the puppy's whiskers were singed.

Shirley said the shop is a total loss.

Owners are already thinking about fundraisers to help get them back on their feet.
