SC (WMBF) - There is still time to give back on “giving day” for The Big Give Pee Dee campaign.

The Big Give Pee Dee is a 24-hour, online campaign that raises funds for various local non-profit organizations on May 5. This project helps people give back to area charities in an easy way.

“With a simple click of a mouse, donors visiting a central website on May 5th can contribute to the local non-profit(s) of their choice,” said Sarah Shelly, executive director of Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, the organizing agency for the regional event. “No matter the size of your contribution, you can be a philanthropist who makes a difference in the community,” Shelly added. The Big Give Pee Dee contributors have until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. to donate.

In the weeks leading up to “giving day,” non-profit organizations have been working to spread awareness about how they impact communities. The project has been present through social, print, and broadcast media. Local communities nationwide will participate in the day of giving through a program called Give Local America

“One of the most appealing aspects of this project is to give people peace of mind where their charitable donations are concerned,” Shelly said. Shelly assures donors that the money will remain in the Pee Dee, and be used to help people living there.
