Man charged for stabbing nephew to death

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One man is dead and one man was arrested after a stabbing early Sunday morning.

According to Darlington County Coroner, J.T. Hardee, the victim was identified as Damaal Renard Cook, 31. Cook was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Hardee.

Police say James Alis Kinley, Jr. was arrested and charged with murder.

According to the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of an assault on Union Street in Society Hill around 4:30 a.m. Officials say the occupants of the home got into an altercation that resulted in a fatal stabbing.

The DCSO, Society Hill Police Department and the Darlington County Coroner's Office are investigating this incident.

The coroner says an autopsy will be scheduled for Kinley on Monday in Newberry.
