NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - North Myrtle Beach City Council will hold a hearing Monday, at their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss the proposed 2016 budget, and the public is invited.

Officials say the public hearing is scheduled for May 4 at 7 p.m. According to a press release from NMB city officials, "The public hearing will be followed by first reading of an ordinance to provide for the adoption of the budget."

City officials say the fiscal year budget year is from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016, and includes $80,070,198 budgeted costs for all funds. The proposed budget is $1.8 million more than the budget for 2015. Officials say the increase is primarily due to project costs like the Cherry Grove canals dredging project.

The budget provides for no tax increase, officials say. The budget includes a three-cent water rate increase, and a four-cent sewer rate increase, according to a press release from NMB officials.
