HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Police are searching for a person of interest after a 14-year-old Longs boy was shot and killed Friday.

According to Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard, the victim was identified as 14-year-old Taizaun Dewitt of Longs, SC.

Police are searching for Rodrez Daquell Stanley, 21, of Longs, according to officials.

According to a police report from HCPD, around 8:42 p.m. Friday night, officers responded to a report that a victim had been shot in the Poplar area of Longs, and was being taken to Seacoast Medical Center. According to the report, when the responding officer arrived to the hospital, staff notified him that the victim was deceased.

Hospital officials confirmed that the victim was shot under his left eye, police say.

Police say the individual who reported the incident transported the victim to the hospital in her car. According to the witness, when she was coming home from work she heard a gunshot. The witness said she saw a male walking down stairs of a residence on the right side of the road, where he collapsed.

The witness could not give a description of the residence and she did not say who lived there. Police say the witness only knew that the residence was near Pint Circle on the left side of the road. The witness added that when she picked the victim up, many people were running from the residence.

Investigators said they traced the incident back to a home on Collins Circle in the Longs Community.

If you have any information about this case or the whereabouts of Stanley, you are asked to contact police.
