HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A North Carolina man was arrested after a Little River title loans company was broken into, and property was damaged.

According to the Horry County Police Department, Sean Patrick Gartner, 32, of Sunset Beach, was arrested in connection to the crime.

HCPD responded to 1st Capital Title Loans on Highway 17 on Wednesday around 12:15 a.m. after reports of a suspicious male, and an alarm went off at the establishment, police say. A window at the business was smashed, cars parked at the location were broken into, and furniture and equipment inside the establishment were damaged.

According to the police report, the male was beating on windows at Pheonix Mart before walking across the street to the incident location where officers made contact with the suspect. Police say the barefoot male fled the location as an officer arrived to the scene. Police located the suspect, and observed that he had minor injuries to his hands and feet, according to the report.

According to HCPD officers, the suspect told police that he did not know that he was injured and he didn't know anything about the damage to the vehicles at the business. Police say witnesses wrote statements reporting that they had seen the man damaging property at the incident location, and entering through the broken window of the establishment.

Gartner was arrested, and charged with second degree burglary, malicious injury to property, and four counts of larceny/breaking into motor vehicles, police say.

Officers said while transporting the suspect, Gartner took his seat-belt off, and proceeded to yell. The officer reported that he then pulled over, put the suspect's seat-belt back on and calmed him down. Gartner was transported to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
