Horry County motorists to expect lane, road closures due to construction projects

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – There will be road closures during the week of Monday, April 20 due to road projects in Horry County.

A portion of Peachtree Road will close from April 21 to April 23 due to construction.

According to Horry County officials, the contractor will close a portion of the road to set girders over the roadway. This construction is a part of the SC-31 extension project. The closure will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day, officials say.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured using Dick Pond Road and Mill Pond Road, according to officials. Message boards will be placed to notify people of the closure.

In addition to closures on Peachtree Road, there will be lane closures in Horry County due to the Glenns Bay widening and interchange project.

Below, county officials provided a list of dates, locations and times of construction and lane closures in the county for the Glenns Bay widening project.

Monday-Friday: There will be a shoulder closure for utility relocation work on US 17 Bypass north bound from St. James Road to Sutter Drive on the right shoulder.

Monday-Friday: There will be a lane closure on Holmestown Road westbound in the outside lane from US Hwy 17 Bypass to Blue Jay Drive, weather permitting, for construction equipment access.-NEW CLOSURE

Wednesday (Night) and Thursday (Night): There will be a lane closure in the south bound outside lane on US 17 Bypass from Sutter Drive to St. James Road for striping. This work will take place between 7PM-6AM.
