US 501 bridge is now open after a single car accident

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Northbound lanes on US 501 were shut down early Saturday morning after an incident.

According to Selena Small with the Conway Police Department, around 5:35 a.m. officers responded to the area on US 501 near The Budget Inn pertaining to a single car accident. The car was traveling northbound on US 501, right before the Grainger Generating Station, when the car went over the guard rail.

The car did not land in the water and the two occupants of the car were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to Smalls.

All US 501 northbound lanes in the area between Waccamaw Drive and Grainger Generating Station were closed down and traffic was rerouted.

All lanes are now back open.
