HCPD: Little River armed robbery suspect forces employee into backroom, steals money from purse

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An armed robbery suspect is on the loose after police said he forced an employee into a backroom and took money from her purse at a tax service business in Little River.

The suspect is described by police as a black male, about 40 years old, 5 ft. 8 in. tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and what looked like a hat without a bill, police said.

At about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Horry County Police department responded to an armed robbery at the Jackson Hewitt Tax Service location at 3371 Highway 9 in Little River.

The victim employee reported that a male came into the business, asked for the other employee, then grabbed her and forced her into a back room.

The victim told police that the suspect held something in his hand and pushed it against her as if it was a weapon.

When the victim failed to cooperate, the suspect took the victim's money from her purse and left the business.

Patrons from the laundromat, located across the street, told police the suspect had been sitting and watching the tax service business prior to the incident.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the police department at 843-248-1520 or the Tip Line at 843-915-8477 (915-TIPS).

Several people who live on the side streets of Ocean Blvd. in North Myrtle Beach recently received a letter saying they need to get rid of obstructions in front of their homes. The city says that’s because the space could be used for public parking. Around 30 people came out to the city council meeting on Monday to speak out about the issue.
