Darlington County opens emergency shelter in Hartsville

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (News Release) - Due to the recent winter weather and the number of continued power outages in the Hartsville, SC area, an emergency shelter will open at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The shelter will be located in the T. B. Thomas Gym at 701 West Washington Street in Hartsville, SC. This overnight shelter opens at 6 p.m. and will remain open until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Limited cots and blankets will be available, you should bring any prescription medications or any special dietary supplements you may require. You may bring games, toys or supplies for small children or infants as needed. You may bring personal hygiene items as needed.

Do not bring alcoholic beverages, weapons and pets to the shelter. Smoking will not be permitted inside the shelter.

The shelter will be manned by Red Cross.

    ROBESON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Four people were shot — and one seriously injured — following an argument near the Sundew gas station in Robeson County late Saturday night, according to Chief Kenneth Sealey. The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. All persons were sent to the hospital and treated for their injuries. The statement issued Sunday warns of all "eastern facing beaches in northern Horry".
