FMU to celebrate 2015 Homecoming

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Francis Marion University will celebrate its 2015 Homecoming with events throughout the week on February 17 to February 21.

Saturday's Homecoming festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with men's and women's alumni basketball games in the Smith University Center gymnasium.

The Homecoming parade will take place on campus at 11:45 a.m. The Patriot Fest which will include special activities, group tents, live music, etc. will begin at 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Smith University Center.

The doubleheader basketball game against USC Aiken will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the women's team tipping off first.

The Hall of Fame induction will include Kirk Bevington, men's soccer defender, and baseball pitcher Erin Jones. The induction will take place between the men's and women's basketball game.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned following the men's basketball game.

The men's and women's tennis team will face Lander University at 1:30 p.m., and the baseball team will play Armstrong State University at 3 p.m.

The 16th annual Swamp Fox Club Benefit Silent Auction is sponsored by the FMU Athletic Department, and will feature sport memorabilia and merchandise in the Smith University Center gymnasium beginning at 1 p.m. All proceeds from the auction will go to support Patriot athletics.

     The Surfside Beach town administrator will keep their job, after a special town council meeting, held this morning. Four of the seven council members organized the meeting on Friday to discuss if Town Administrator Micki Fellner should be dismissed from her job for what some say is violating duties.
