FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Florence will host the “Flo-Town 5k Run/Walk” event at the city's regional waste management facility.

The city of Florence Employee Wellness Program and Florence Track Club will partner for the event which originated from a “Couch to 5k” training program for city employees. The committee decided to end the training program with a 5k event so that the employees involved would have the opportunity to cross the finish line and accomplish their goal.

Runners and walkers will be on a natural path that goes through the woods across from Jeffries Creek, across boardwalks, around the Freedom Florence pond and then return to the trails near the site of the old Florence Stockade.

The “Flo-Town 5k Run/Walk” is scheduled for April 18, 2015 at 9 a.m. The location will be at city's regional waste management facility on 1000 Stockade Road, Florence, SC.

For more information on how to get involved, contact Amanda Pope, apope@cityofflorence.com or (843)665-3113.
