Several schools now closed due to weather, power outages

(WMBF) - Based on wintry weather conditions for parts of inland South Carolina and eastern North Carolina, school officials have announced delays for Tuesday.

DARLINGTON COUNTY

-All Darlington County School District schools are closed Tuesday due to inclement weather and power outages. District employees and principals who can safely make it to work are asked to do so. Twelve-month employees who cannot safely make it to work can take annual leave, district officials said.

-Darlington County Government Offices will open at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, according to government officials. "There may be limited services to the public due to restoration of services from power outages."

Florence-Darlington Technical College's Hartsville campus will open at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, according to FDTC officials. 

-All state government offices in Darlington County will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday.

-The City of Hartsville offices will open on a delayed schedule Tuesday, Feb, 17, at 10 a.m., because of inclement weather. 

-Emmanuel Christian School in Hartsville will be closed Tuesday, February 17 because of power outages and inclement weather.

-Coker College will be operating on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

DILLON COUNTY

-Dillon Christian School will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

MARLBORO COUNTY

-Marlboro County School District announced that school is canceled Tuesday because of icy roads, low hanging trees and power outages.

MARION COUNTY

-Marion County School District will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

ROBESON COUNTY

-Robeson CC is closed on Tuesday, February 17. Day and evening classes have been cancelled.

-The Public Schools of Robeson County will will be closed Tuesday because of the winter storm and power outages.

SCOTLAND COUNTY

-Scotland County school's and the district office will be closed on Tuesday, February 17.

    One person has died after an accident on U.S. 17 South early Saturday morning. According to Jed Jones with South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pick-up truck was traveling on U.S. 17, when it ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned around 1:55 Saturday morning. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

     A house fire has temporarily shut down Myrtle Avenue in Pawley’s Island. Pawley’s Island Police confirm a house fire at 350 Myrtle Avenue, and say the road will be closed for a while. There is a house fire at 350 Myrtle Ave. Street will be closed for a while between the causeways.

    Conway Pastor Phillip Miles was arrested Thursday by TSA for carrying an unloaded pistol into Myrtle Beach International Airport. According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center’s website, Miles was charged with carrying weapons into restricted places and was released on $500.00 bond.
