Looking for a job? Seasonal hiring underway

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - It may only be February, and you might not be thinking about a summer job, but employers are.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground opened its doors for a hiring event, Wednesday, looking for around 250 employees.

Despite your age or the experience on your resume, the application is open for pretty much everyone to fill out. If your student is looking for a summer job, or you're retired, tourist hot-spots are staffing-up for the busy months ahead.

Some positions available at Ocean Lakes includes security, food service and maintenance.

"We have about 225 year-round, full time and part time positions, 200-250 full and part-time positions,” said VP of Human Resources Ron Welchel. “Of that number, about 90 percent probably began as a seasonal teammate."

A trend this year, is convenience, less people showing up in person, and more people, applying online.

"We can't run this campground without seasonal teammates,” said Welchel.

Which is why it's crucial, for summer hiring to begin, now. Ocean Lakes isn't the only place getting a jump start.

Just last week, Tanger Outlets held a job fair and it still has available positions on its website.

This week, several hotels are getting ready to book you for a job.

On top of that, a wide-range of businesses are currently signing up for the South Strand job fair in the beginning of March.

Then, the day after, the City of Myrtle Beach Recreation division is holding its job fair. This is for positions from life guarding to youth sports.

Many, if not all of these job fairs, plan to have year-round jobs and/or full-time available, as well.

"These places couldn't exist without them. Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas, Surfside, they depend on seasonal workers in order to be able to carry out their businesses and of course, the summers the busiest time,” said job seeker Diane Hines.

Some more job opportunities include:
