Citation issued for brush fire that endangered homes

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – West Florence Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire endangering several houses on Will's Place. The reported brush fire had gotten out of control and grew to about three acres in size.

Howe Springs Fire Department and South Carolina Forestry Commission also responded, and together fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading and getting to any of the houses.

The fired started from a burn pile at a neighbor's residence. The South Carolina Forestry Commission did issue citations for failure to notify and take proper precautions. No one was injured during the fire.
