Darlington firefighters save puppy

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – A puppy was saved after a single-story family home caught on fire Friday in Darlington. No one was hurt.

Firefighters said they saved a Labrador puppy from a bedroom, still in his cage. When the firefighters got him out, the dog received oxygen and is now said to be in good shape.

City of Darlington Fire Chief Pat Cavanaugh said they received a call around 1:12pm for a fire at 415 North Main Street in Darlington. The fire department took about 30 minutes to put the fire completely out.

The home received heavy fired and smoke damage leaving its owners with having to find somewhere else to stay for the time being.

The cause is still under investigation.
