GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A plane made an emergency landing in Georgetown County.
The pilot of the small single-engine airplane was the only person on board, and he has been rescued with no injuries, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
The pilot landed on the beach on North Island, near the entrance of the Winyah Bay, at around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Several crews responded after officials received an emergency signal from the plane.
Officials said they watched the signal of the plane go from 1200 feet to 100 feet and then disappear.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
