Ricky Eric Norris, 29, of Loris, was taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center after officials found the truck he was driving crashed in a ditch on Postal Way, according to a South Carolina Highway Patrol report. An off-duty CCU police officer told the state trooper, Norris climbed out the window of the wrecked truck and "appeared to be intoxicated," according to the report.
The trooper noted a "strong odor of alcohol coming from [Norris'] breath" in the report.
Norris told the official he had three beers earlier and was heading home, according to the SCHP.
After field sobriety tests, the trooper noted "three clues" to put Norris under arrest.
After Norris was placed inside the patrol car, officials found "several open Bud Light beer cans" inside the vehicle Norris was driving.
