HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A man was arrested after police said he "bit a woman severely on her face" in Murrells Inlet.

Christopher Brian Campbell, 39, was charged with one count of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to Lt. Denis with the Horry County Police Department.

Police responded to the Sandy Monkey Bar and Grill at around 4:30 Sunday evening after reports of a shooting in the area.

When officers arrived to the scene, they said they there was no shooting, instead an aggravated assault, according to the police report.

Police said they found a woman lying in a parking lot, her face covered in blood.

Campbell reportedly bit the woman severely on her face, and according to a witness, kicked the victim while she was on the ground.

Campbell refused to comply with officers, according to the report.

The officer said he fired his stun gun and arrested Campbell.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery.

Campbell was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
