Coroner identifies two people killed in US 378 crash

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) –Two people are dead after a fatal crash on Highway 378.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle crash which left two people dead and four others hurt. According to highway patrol troopers, the collision happened eight miles west of Conway on Sunday, February 1, at 7 p.m.

According to Horry County Coroner, Michelle McSpadden, the deceased have been identified as Derrick Darrell Adams, 29, of Cades, and Stacy Marie Godwin, 36, of Myrtle Beach.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say they were both traveling east, in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, and hit a 2006 Lincoln SUV head on. Another driver in a 2013 Nissan then hit the SUV.

McSpadden said Adams and Godwin died from injuries sustained in the crash, and there will be no autopsies.

The driver in the SUV and passenger were both taken to Grand Strand Medical Center. The driver of the SUV has serious injuries.

Also, the driver and passenger in the Nissan were taken to Grand Strand Medical Center, both were last listed as having minor injuries.
