DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Darlington County Sheriff deputies arrested a man after he led them on a chase that resulted in a car catching fire on Friday.
Cory Dargan of Florence has been charged with driving under suspension, driving under the influence, and ABC violation, improper passing, and failure to stop for a blue light.
A DCSO deputy initiated a traffic stop when Dargan passed on a solid yellow line traveling west on East Mclver Road.
Dargan sped away and led the deputy on a small chase until he struck an oncoming car. The impact caused the oncoming car to spin into ditch and Dargan's SUV to flip over and catch fire.
Dargan was entrapped inside the SUV when it caught fire, but was able to be removed successfully. EMS and the fire department arrived on scene and treated all parties involved.
No injuries were reported.
