NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The 27th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival will be held Saturday, March 14 on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The festival will follow from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Retired North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief Tom Barstow is set to be the Grand March at the parade.
The North Strand Optimist Club organized the parade and are giving the money made to the youth in the community.
Mardell Schuster won the T-shirt Design Contest and will receive a $100 Walmart gift card. Her design will be used for the official 2015 St. Patrick's Day souvenir t-shirts. Souvenir t-shirts will be available to purchase at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center at 1030 Possum Trot Road in North Myrtle Beach. Shirts will also be sold at the parade and festival, but supplies is limited.

This one-day, rain or shine event brings approximately 30,000 to celebrate being Irish and welcome the coming of spring. A parade begins the day at 9:00 a.m., followed by two stages of live music and a children's area with rides and amusements from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. Along Main Street approximately 150 vendors will display their crafts, services, information, products, or serve a variety of treats.
The parade lines up along 2nd Avenue North from Ocean Blvd. to Lowe's. The parade begins at the Bi Lo at the Beach shopping center on Main Street and proceeds east towards the ocean, on the west bound lane of traffic. At the intersection of Hillside Dr. and Main Street parade entries turn right onto Hillside Drive, then turn left onto 1st Avenue S., then another left onto Ocean Blvd., traveling to 2nd Avenue North to conclude the parade route.
The judging stage is located at the corner of Main St. and Hillside Dr.
First, second, and third place awards will be given in three different categories; business, nonprofit, and marching bands.
