MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man has been charged with felony crimes after a 2013 deadly hit-and-run case went cold.
Carlos Enrique Peralta Roy, 28, was charged with accessory after the fact of a felony, hit and run duties of driver involved in deadly accident, obstruction of justice and failure to appear in court. Roy was arrested January 9.
Roy was the passenger in an SUV that struck a moped and killed 21-year-old Tyshawn Johnson, said Corporal Sonny Collins with Highway Patrol. The incident happened along Highway 501 on the Waccamaw Pottery Bridge August 17 at around 3 a.m.
Days after Johnson died, the driver of the moped, Robert Pouncey told WMBF News he didn't remember much from the accident, but does remember emergency responders talking to him.
"Asking me [sic] what was the name of my friend and I remember asking, thinking, why are they asking me? Ask him," Pouncey said.
The driver has not been arrested or identified.
