MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Nearly $14 million has been invested in the new Myrtle Beach Sports Center, according to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
The 100,000-square-foot indoor tournament facility designed to accommodate tournaments and games, is expected to boost sports tourism, city leaders said.
The facility is adjacent to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and includes 500 parking spaces, according to the SCDPRT.
Once open, at least five new full-time positions are anticipated in the city.
The Myrtle Beach Sports Center is on schedule for completion in March 2015, just in time for the first scheduled event on March 7.
