Orbitz.com issued the following information in a news release Monday:
With thousands of flights canceled throughout the Northeast and travelers stranded in advance of Winter Storm Juno, Orbitz.com is offering a discount of 15 percent off hotel rooms in affected regions, with promo code JUNO15 between Jan. 26, 2015, and Feb. 8, 2015.
The storm, which is being described as "historic" by The National Weather Service has already led to more than 2,000 flight cancellations. The New York metro area has the highest percentage of cancellations, with between 35 percent and 55 percent of flights expected to be canceled. The DC metro area has fewer than 10 percent of flights canceled for IAD and BWI, while DCA has canceled approximately 20 percent of flights.
Philadelphia (PHL) is experiencing delays of three hours for flights, while other airports aren't seeing many flight delays due to the high number of cancellations.
Orbitz.com predicts more cancellations tonight and tomorrow, as the storm moves into the Northeast.
Orbitz.com also offers tips on its blog to help travelers navigate flight cancellations. Most major airlines will waive their change and cancellation fees for travelers affected by the weather. However, there is a rebooking window for flight changes without incurring a fee. For Orbitz.com travelers, the company will waive any Orbitz cancellation fees and help you rebook your flight, hotel, car or activity.
