Suspect shot at during home burglary

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to a burglary crime on Mashie Drive, Saturday.

According to a police report from MBPD, one of the victims stated that he heard a noise while he was in a room in the front of the home. He went to check on his wife and when he saw that she was okay, he went to his bedroom to get his revolver while his wife called police.

The 74-year-old victim stated that he left the bedroom and entered the living room where he saw a hand attempting to unlock the kitchen door, through broken glass on the door. According to police, the victim then fired two shots through the door. The suspect screamed and fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

Inspection of the crime scene revealed that there were drops of the suspect's blood in the entrance area and driveway.

The victim was given victim's advocate paperwork and detectives are investigating another incident that may be related.
