MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the Coastal Grand Mall, Saturday afternoon in regards to an armed robbery.

The robbery occurred at the Hot Topic store in the mall. According to a police report from MBPD, the store's cashier reported that 20 minutes prior to the robbery, the suspect asked her to show him some jeans. Other customers were in the store at that time, and the suspect told the victim he would be back with his wife to look at the jeans.

The cashier stated that she was working behind the counter when the suspect snuck up behind her, waved a knife and placed it on her back. According to the police report, the knife was approximately 10 inches, with a black handle.

The suspect made the cashier give him money from two cash registers and the safe in a back office.

The cashier said, she waited in a back room until the suspect exited the store from the front entrance. The suspect fled with $175 from cash register one, $179 from cash register two and $115 from the safe. The suspect took a total of $469.

The suspect is described as a black male. He was approximately six feet tall and about 175 pounds.

Receipts from the registers were collected as evidence, and a victim's assistance report was issued to the victim.
