BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - After running from police for 11 days, a man wanted for armed robbery and assault surrendered to Bennettsville police Tuesday.
Ikeem Brown was charged with armed robbery and assault by mob, said Lt. Larry Turner.
Brown is one of three suspects believed to be involved with violent crimes in Bennettsville, police said.
Marcus Johnson and Rayquan Waddell face violent crime charges, Turner said.
Friday, January 16, Johnson, Brown and Rayquan Waddell assaulted a man and robbed him of cash and two cell phones, Turner said.
"[The three men] saw an individual walking down Marshall Street on Friday and saw an opportunity there," Turner said.
Waddell was arrested and taken to the Marlboro County Detention Center, Turner said.
Later Friday night, Brown, Johnson and two teen girls reportedly beat a 67-year-old man with a pipe after hearing the man had money inside his house, Turner said.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for a broken leg and head and face injuries.
The men accused of the crimes have a criminal history, according to police.
A bond hearing will likely be scheduled next week for Brown, Johnson and Waddell, Turner said.
