MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the corner of Graham and Hemingway Street on January 19, at about 6:15 p.m. in regards to children allegedly threatening an older man on a moped.
According to a police report from MBPD, the victim reported that young male children ranging from ages eight to 11, surrounded him and threatened to take his moped as he was driving the vehicle northbound. The victim describes one of the older children as "the leader of the group." The child was described as a black male with light skin. The boy stood at 4 feet 11 inches tall and was about 145 pounds. The suspect had short hair and was overweight, according to the police report. The victim said the suspect was wearing a checkered shirt. When the victim resisted, he said the child motioned as if he may have been armed.
The victim could not describe the other children in the group because his focus was on that one child.
Officers were unsuccessful in locating this child in the area. Sergeant Castle with the MBPD was consulted and a victim's advocate report has been completed.
