CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A Conway man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and numerous other charges after a gunfire exchange early Sunday morning, according to Lt. Selena Small with the CPD.
Lieutenant Small said officers were called to a neighborhood in the area of 18th Avenue and McDermott Street around 1:26 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports that there was a man breaking into cars.
When officers arrived on scene, they found three victims who said they were walking in the area after seeing the suspect under their carport. They said they came across him and he fired several rounds at them. One of the victims with a concealed weapons permit returned fire, but did not injure the suspect, who fled on foot.
Officers located the suspect, according to Lt. Small, identified as 30-year-old Dashawn Conell Cox of Conway. He was charged with three counts of attempted murder, breaking into motor vehicles, possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest.
