SCDOT preps roads for wintry weather

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Highway engineers have pre-treated some of the bridges, overpasses and parts of I-95 in the Pee Dee, said Treasure Scarborough, SCDOT engineer.

Some of those bridges include the Great Pee Dee River Bridge, the MLK Bridge by McLeod Hospital, the railroad overpass in Dillon County and the Little Pee Dee River Bridge on Hwy 301.

The SCDOT has scheduled staff Tuesday night in all counties.

At least two crews are scheduled in each county in District 5 to treat bridges and other ice-prone areas, to treat with salt or salt brine. Areas in District 5, include: Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro, Williamsburg counties.

With the exception of Georgetown and Williamsburg there will be a smaller crew in those two counties.
