Family displaced following residential fire

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - A family is displaced following a residential fire in Darlington.

According to Darlington City Fire Chief, Pat Cavanaugh, the fire started at about 5:40 p.m. and Darlington City Fire crews arrived to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.

The fire was contained to one room. It took nearly 15 minutes to get the blaze under control. There was heavy fire damage to about 35 percent of the home and 100 percent smoke and heat damage to the rest of the house.

Officials later found the occupants of the home. They are displaced, but have somewhere to go.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
