SC (WMBF) - As a result of a contract rewarded in April, the South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) will convert its Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) services vendor from JPMorgan Chase to Xerox EBT Services.

EBT is the method SC uses to issue Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The conversion will take place on January 17-18, 2015. EBT services will be inoperable from 11 p.m. January 17, to 10 a.m., January 18.

Approximately 400,000 households in SC will be affected. After the conversion, recipients will use their EBT cards to purchase food at SNAP authorized retailers.

For more information, or if recipients experience trouble after the conversion is complete, call 1-800-554-5268.
