Cold weather school delay information for Friday

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Some school districts in the area are again opting to delay the start of school due to the extreme low temperatures expected on Friday morning. Find the latest school delay information below:

-All Horry County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Friday, January 9, according to a district official.

-The Marlboro County School District is again delaying the school start time for students by two hours on Friday, January 9, according to an e-mail from district officials.

“All staff will report to work at the regular time. To accommodate working parents with school car riders and school employees with children, all school buildings will be open to receive students who may arrive early on Friday,” the news release states.

“Bus pick-up schedules will operate on a delay and buses will operate on all normal routes. Classes will dismiss at the normal time unless otherwise announced. There will be no breakfast served, but lunches will be served throughout the district,” the release concludes.
