FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - According to South Carolina Attorney General, Alan Wilson, Stephen Alexander Steele, 21, was arrested on one count of soliciting a minor for sex.
Steele of Florence, was charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, after he engaged in sexually graphic conversations for seven days, with a victim in Virginia, after learning their age. This felony offense is punishable by up to ten years of imprisonment and sex offender registry, according to the SC Attorney General's Office.
Authorities seized a laptop and other electronic equipment for forensic examination.
The Florence County Sheriff's Office and a member of the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) made the arrest. Authorities in Hanover County, Virginia assisted with the investigation. The Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case.
