MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - The J.C. Penney store at the Inlet Square Mall has announced its closing.

The store will close in March of 2015, according to Joey Thomas, Media Relations Manager.

“We continually evaluate our store portfolio to determine whether there's a need to close or relocate under-performing stores. Reviews such as these are essential in meeting our long-term goals for future company growth. While it's never an easy decision to close stores, especially due to the impact on our valued associates and customers, we feel this is a necessary business decision,” Thomas said.

Thomas says that the company is providing associates with career training classes that will assist them in writing resumes, filling out applications and answering interview questions. Eligible associates who do not remain with the company will receive separation benefits, according to Thomas.
